Pet food prices in Pakistan: dog and cat food compared

Checked 15 October 20266 min read

Pet food prices in Pakistan depend mostly on whether the brand is made locally or imported, and on the bag size. These are typical retail prices seen at large Pakistani online pet stores, checked in October 2026 and rounded. Sale prices, the rupee and import costs change them often, so treat them as a guide and compare before you buy.

Dog food prices

Dry dog food. Big bags (15 to 20 kg) cost the least per kg; 1 to 4 kg bags cost more.
TypeExamplesPrice per kg
Local budgetProcan, Big PawRs 400 – 750
Imported mid-rangeReflex, Josera, NutragoldRs 1,150 – 1,300
Imported premiumRoyal Canin, ProchoiceRs 1,400 – 3,500
Super premiumTaste of the Wildabout Rs 2,700

For example, a 20 kg bag of a local brand was about Rs 13,000, a 15 kg bag of an imported mid-range brand about Rs 17,000 to 19,000, and a 4 kg bag of a premium breed formula about Rs 14,000.

Cat food prices

Common pack sizes are 1 to 1.5 kg for dry cat food.
TypeExamplesPrice
Local / budget dryTopline, EternaRs 650 – 1,100 per kg
Popular dryMe-O, WhiskasRs 1,700 – 2,500 per kg
Premium dryReflex Plus, Royal CaninRs 2,300 – 3,500+ per kg
Wet food pouch (80 to 100 g)Whiskas, Felix, Brit, Me-ORs 240 – 460 each

What a month of food costs

Feeding amounts vary by brand, age and activity, so check the chart on the bag. As a rough guide, on dry food only:

PetEats aboutBudget foodMid-rangePremium
Cat, 4 kg1.8 kg a monthRs 1,200 – 2,000Rs 3,100 – 4,500Rs 4,100 – 6,300
Small dog, 8 kg4 kg a monthRs 1,600 – 3,000Rs 4,600 – 5,200Rs 5,600 – 7,000
Medium dog, 20 kg9 kg a monthRs 3,600 – 6,800Rs 10,400 – 11,700Rs 12,600 – 15,800
Large dog, 35 kg14 kg a monthRs 5,600 – 10,500Rs 16,100 – 18,200Rs 19,600 – 24,500

Premium dog food is priced here at big-bag rates (about Rs 1,400 – 1,750 per kg). Wet food, treats and prescription diets add to these amounts.

Why price per kg matters

Always divide the price by the kilograms to compare. A cheaper food can cost more per month if your pet needs to eat a lot more of it, because it has less energy per bowl. Premium foods are usually more concentrated, so the daily portion is smaller.

How to save without cutting quality

  • Buy the biggest bag your pet can finish within about 6 weeks of opening, and keep it sealed and dry.
  • Change food slowly over 7 days to avoid upset stomachs; switching brands often wastes money.
  • Feed by weight, not by eye. Overfeeding is the most common way people overspend, and it makes pets overweight.
  • Check the expiry date and that the bag is sealed; buy from clinics and trusted sellers to avoid fakes.
  • Ask your vet before switching to the cheapest food for a puppy, kitten, senior or a pet with a health problem.

Questions

How much does dog food cost in Pakistan?

In October 2026, local budget brands cost about Rs 400 to 750 per kg, imported mid-range brands about Rs 1,150 to 1,300 per kg, and imported premium brands about Rs 1,400 to 3,500 per kg. Big bags cost less per kg.

How much does cat food cost in Pakistan?

Popular dry brands such as Me-O and Whiskas cost about Rs 1,700 to 2,500 per kg, premium dry food about Rs 2,300 to 3,500 or more per kg, and wet pouches about Rs 240 to 460 each.

How much does it cost to feed a dog for a month in Pakistan?

A medium 20 kg dog eats about 9 kg of dry food a month, which costs roughly Rs 3,600 to 6,800 on a budget brand, Rs 10,400 to 11,700 on a mid-range import, and Rs 12,600 to 15,800 on premium food bought in big bags.

Is expensive pet food worth it?

Often, but compare the price per kg and the daily portion. Premium foods are usually more concentrated, so pets eat less of them. Ask your vet what suits your pet's age and health.
